Godrej Agrovet Ltd, a diversified agri-business company, inaugurated India’s first integrated oil palm complex at Khammam, Telangana, with an investment of ₹300 crore, bringing the entire oil palm value chain from seed production to refining under one roof.
The facility comprises a seed and genetics centre, nursery, research and development centre, palm oil mill, refinery and a farmer support centre.
Integrated value chain
The company has established a seed garden in partnership with leading global companies to bring advanced oil palm genetics to India.
An upcoming R&D centre will focus on developing hybrid planting material suited to Telangana’s climatic conditions, supporting higher productivity and sustainable cultivation.
Processing capacity
The complex houses the first privately operated oil palm mill in Telangana.
The mill has commenced operations with a processing capacity of 30 tonnes per hour and has been designed for expansion to 60 tonnes per hour.
Godrej Agrovet plans to increase the area under oil palm cultivation in Telangana from the current 10,000 hectares to 30,000 hectares by 2030.
Supporting farmers
The complex also includes a Samadhan Centre that will provide farmers with advisory services, access to quality planting material, farm inputs and other support.
“This complex is a landmark for Telangana’s oil palm mission and our vision of making the state a leading edible oil producer. Bringing seed-to-refinery capability to Khammam reflects the strength of Godrej Agrovet’s expertise and will accelerate our mission while bringing lasting prosperity to oil palm farmers,” said Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu.
Strengthening edible oil security
“As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same, to build capabilities that serve our farmers today and strengthen the nation’s food security for generations to come,” said Godrej Agrovet Chairperson Designate Burjis Godrej.
“With the entire oil palm value chain under one roof, we gain greater control over quality and consistency. It reflects our confidence in Telangana’s potential to lead India’s edible oil security journey while uplifting farming families,” said Godrej Agrovet MD & CEO Sunil Kataria.
The company said the integrated complex marks a significant milestone in its oil palm business and reinforces its commitment to working with governments and farmers to strengthen India’s sustainable edible oil ecosystem.
