Apollo Micro Sees Opportunity In DRDO Missile Technology Transfer

CW Bureau ·

Apollo Micro Systems Ltd, a defence electronics and engineering solutions provider, sees the recent approval for transferring Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)-developed missile technologies to Indian industry as an opportunity to expand its role in the country’s indigenous defence ecosystem.

The approval by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh marks a step towards strengthening domestic defence manufacturing, indigenous technologies and resilient supply chains, the company said.

Four decades of defence engineering

Apollo Micro Systems has spent more than four decades developing capabilities in mission-critical avionics, weapon electronics, fuzes, actuators, rugged computing, precision machining and system integration.

The company’s experience has been shaped by the requirements of DRDO, the Armed Forces and defence public sector undertakings, supporting its participation in critical defence programmes.

Company eyes wider missile role

The transfer of missile technologies presents an opportunity for Apollo to build on its engineering capabilities and expand its participation across the missile technology value chain.

“For four decades, we have built the building blocks of indigenous defence. Now, we aspire to bring them together to build complete systems for our nation,” Apollo Micro Systems, Managing Director, Baddam Karunakar Reddy, said in a letter to shareholders.

Next phase of growth

He said the development represented more than the next phase of the company’s growth, reflecting its commitment to converting years of engineering experience into greater technological strength for India.

Reddy said the next phase would require patience, resilience and sustained effort as the company strengthens its capabilities and contributes to India’s defence self-reliance.

Focus on indigenous capabilities

The company said its focus remains on expanding its engineering and manufacturing capabilities to support the country’s efforts to develop a stronger domestic defence industrial base.

The technology transfer is expected to create opportunities for Indian defence companies to build on indigenous research and expand their roles in the development and manufacture of defence systems.
