ESDS Software Unveils Swaraj Cloud, India’s Sovereign AI Cloud Platform

ESDS Software Solution has launched Swaraj Cloud, a sovereign AI cloud platform built and operated entirely in India to help enterprises meet data residency, compliance and AI infrastructure requirements.

ESDS Software Solution Ltd has launched Swaraj Cloud, a sovereign AI cloud platform that is built, owned and operated entirely in India, aiming to help enterprises and government organisations meet growing data sovereignty, regulatory compliance and artificial intelligence infrastructure requirements.

The company said the platform runs exclusively on ESDS-owned physical infrastructure housed in Indian data centres and governed under Indian jurisdiction, offering enterprise-grade computing, AI, security and developer capabilities with 100% Indian data residency and minimal dependence on foreign infrastructure.

Built to address India’s data sovereignty needs
ESDS said the launch comes as enterprises face increasing compliance obligations under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) cloud selection framework for government workloads, and the Reserve Bank of India’s cloud guidelines for the banking sector.

According to the company, organisations in regulated sectors such as banking, government, healthcare and public services have been required to comply with stricter data residency norms while continuing to rely on cloud infrastructure that is not subject to Indian legal jurisdiction.

Swaraj Cloud has been developed to address this challenge at the infrastructure level rather than through contractual agreements or data processing arrangements.

AI-powered platform with integrated cloud capabilities
A key feature of Swaraj Cloud is its prompt-to-production architecture, powered by an integrated solution generator that enables enterprises to convert business requirements into production-ready environments.

The platform is built on five core pillars, AI intelligence, scalability, security, compliance and data sovereignty, while integrating Cloud Service Provider (CSP) and Managed Service Provider (MSP) capabilities into a single sovereign cloud ecosystem.

ESDS said it owns and operates the physical servers, storage systems and networking infrastructure powering Swaraj Cloud, and that it is not a rebranded or resold foreign cloud service. Workloads processed on the platform are designed to remain within Indian borders under Indian legal jurisdiction.

Eyes growing demand for sovereign digital infrastructure
The company noted that more than 70% of India’s digital workloads continue to run on foreign cloud infrastructure, leading to economic outflows and strategic dependence on overseas technologies.

ESDS believes increasing geopolitical uncertainties, evolving compliance requirements and India’s push for digital self-reliance are driving demand for sovereign cloud infrastructure built and managed within the country.

Company positions platform as India’s digital sovereignty play
ESDS Software Solution Ltd Managing Director & Chairman Piyush Somani said, “The path ahead for India lies unequivocally in Digital Sovereignty, where our data, cloud, AI, compute, cybersecurity and critical digital infrastructure are developed, governed and continuously innovated within India. This is a collective national responsibility and ESDS is committed to enabling this vision by delivering a sovereign end-to-end AI and IT ecosystem that empowers large enterprises, governments and BFSI institutions.”

He added, “Our purpose extends to enabling the AtmaNirbhar Bharat mission and building sovereign digital foundations through platforms like Swaraj Cloud that will enable India’s sovereign AI future and strengthen its leadership in the age of Artificial Intelligence.”

ESDS Software Solution Ltd Whole-time Director Komal Somani said, “Every regulated enterprise in India has been navigating a difficult trade-off—capable cloud infrastructure that does not meet sovereignty requirements, or sovereign infrastructure that does not meet capability requirements. Swaraj Cloud is built to remove that trade-off. With Prompt-to-Production, built-in compliance monitoring and a sovereign AI platform, enterprises now have a single platform that meets regulatory obligations and operational demands without compromise.”
