Brigade Hotel Ventures To Invest ₹1,100 Cr In Chennai, Add 500 Keys

Brigade Hotel Ventures Ltd (BHVL), on February 2, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu government to invest ₹1100 crore in the state in the hospitality sector.  The MoU was inked at the ongoing Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026,  where Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin was present.  Through the agreement, BHVL aims to significantly bolster the state’s tourism infrastructure and create high-value employment opportunities for over 1000 people.

The initiative aligns with the summit’s core objective of bringing together senior policymakers, global investors, and industry leaders to explore and develop new opportunities in the hospitality and leisure sectors.

Vineet Verma, Director BHVL, said, “This MoU is part of our commitment to bring the best of hospitality to Chennai and reflects our shared vision with the Government of Tamil Nadu to transform Chennai into a premium destination for global business and leisure travellers. By adding over 500 keys across three world-class brands, we are not only expanding our portfolio but also contributing to the state’s economic growth through the creation of substantial employment. Our goal is to set new benchmarks in hospitality while supporting the government’s mission to enhance tourism infrastructure and destination development across this vibrant state.”

Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway, BHVL’s first hotel through its subsidiary SRP Hotel Ventures Ltd in Chennai which commenced operations in April 2017 with 202 keys.

The company will now add over 500 new keys across three properties in Chennai including Courtyard by Marriott at Chennai World Trade Centre, Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR and JW Marriott Chennai OMR. Brigade Group had already acquired lands for these projects to create hospitality destinations in Chennai.  Courtyard by Marriott at Chennai World Trade Centre will offer around 45 guestrooms located just 13 km from the Chennai International Airport.  Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR will be a premier resort with approximately 211 guest rooms.  JW Marriott Chennai OMR will feature around 250 stylishly appointed guest rooms and suites.
