Mahindra Group is setting up its largest integrated manufacturing facility for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur, furthering its long-term manufacturing and growth ambitions in the country. The facility, announced at the Advantage Vidarbha investor meet, is expected to begin production in 2028 and will anchor Mahindra’s next phase of capacity expansion across auto and farm equipment businesses.
Spread over 1,500 acres in Vidarbha, with an additional 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar, the Nagpur complex will be Mahindra’s biggest integrated manufacturing footprint in the country. Once fully operational, the plant will have the capacity to produce over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors annually, underscoring Mahindra’s intent to scale for both domestic demand and exports.
Mahindra’s choice of Vidarbha is rooted in logistics and ecosystem advantages. The region offers strong road connectivity through the Samruddhi Expressway, established rail links, and proximity to key consumption and export markets. The supplier park in Sambhajinagar is expected to strengthen the value chain through localisation, faster turnaround times and tighter collaboration with vendors.
Importantly, the supplier park will not only feed the new Nagpur facility but also support Mahindra’s existing plants at Chakan and Nashik, improving network-wide manufacturing efficiency.
The Nagpur automotive plant will support Mahindra Auto’s next-generation platforms, including the NU_IQ architecture, and will be capable of manufacturing vehicles across multiple powertrains—ICE, electric and future technologies. The facility will feature advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems, aligning with Mahindra’s focus on flexible production, quality and sustainability.
On the farm equipment side, the tractor unit will further consolidate Mahindra’s leadership in the segment, catering to rising domestic demand while expanding export capacity in key overseas markets.
Beyond Nagpur, Mahindra plans to acquire land in the Igatpuri–Nashik region to expand product and engine capacities and to support the growth of its advanced technology businesses. In total, the Group will acquire over 2,000 acres across three locations in Maharashtra.
The combined initiatives represent a ₹15,000-crore investment over 10 years, reinforcing Maharashtra’s role as a core manufacturing base for the Group.
“This facility represents a bold step forward in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey,” said Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO (Auto and Farm Sector), Mahindra & Mahindra. He said the integrated footprint will enable Mahindra to deliver next-generation vehicles and tractors at scale while reinforcing its ‘Make in India for the World’ strategy.
Mahindra’s Nagpur mega plant is not just a capacity expansion—it is a strategic re-architecture of its manufacturing network, designed to support multi-powertrain mobility, exports and long-term growth across auto and farm segments.
