Kinetic Watts & Volts Gets ₹42 Cr Incentive Under Maharashtra EV Policy

Kinetic Watts & Volts Ltd. (KWV), the electric vehicle arm of the Kinetic Group, has been entitled to receive incentive benefits of approximately ₹42 crore under the Maharashtra government’s electric vehicle policy. The incentive will be realised in a phased manner over a 10-year period and marks a significant endorsement of the company’s manufacturing-led EV strategy.

KWV, a subsidiary of Kinetic Engineering Ltd, has recently entered the electric two-wheeler market with the launch of the Kinetic DX EV, reviving the iconic Kinetic DX brand that redefined personal mobility in India nearly four decades ago. The company’s strong localisation focus played a key role in qualifying for the incentive scheme.

The Kinetic DX EV has been designed ground-up by KWV, with 99% of its components tooled in-house. Manufactured at the company’s facility in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, the scooter sources 99% of its parts from within India. This high level of domestic value addition aligns closely with the objectives of the State’s EV policy.

The incentive entitlement complements the Kinetic Group’s recent investments in advanced EV manufacturing infrastructure. Over the past period, Kinetic Engineering and KWV have deployed focused capital to establish modern production lines and component facilities in Maharashtra, aimed at localising critical subsystems, enhancing quality control, and reducing supply-chain dependencies.

Commenting on the development,. Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Kinetic Watts & Volts, said, “The Maharashtra EV Policy is a progressive step toward building a strong domestic EV ecosystem. The incentive, linked to our investment of around ₹70 crore, supports our strategy of robotics-led manufacturing and in-house battery assembly. This will help us accelerate localisation, expand production capacity, and deliver durable, safe, and accessible electric mobility solutions for Indian families at scale.”

The Kinetic DX EV features several first-in-segment patented ‘EASY’ innovations from Kinetic, including Easy Charge, Easy FLIP and Easy KeyIt is built on a strong metal body and offers a class-leading 37 litres of under-seat storage. KWV has commenced sales and service operations in Pune, Mumbai, Vadodara, and Surat, with plans to expand its footprint nationwide.

Funds supported by the incentive will primarily be deployed across KWV’s manufacturing campuses in Maharashtra to scale production of the Kinetic DX EV range, expand battery assembly operations under the Range-X platform, and strengthen robotics-enabled chassis and sub-assembly lines.
