Stellantis, Tata Motors Mark 20 Years Of Fiat JV; Sign MoU For Deeper Ties

Stellantis, one of the world’s leading automotive groups, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles on February 10 marked two decades of their successful partnership through their 50:50 joint venture, Fiat India Automobiles Pvt Ltd (FIAPL). To commemorate the milestone, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore expanded collaboration across manufacturing, engineering and supply chain domains in India and select international markets.

Over the past 20 years, FIAPL has emerged as a key automotive manufacturing hub, combining Stellantis’ global technical expertise with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ strong understanding of the Indian market. The joint venture has built robust capabilities in vehicle manufacturing, powertrain development and supply chain excellence, creating a strong platform for future growth and collaboration.

“FIAPL stands as a testament to what two strong organisations can achieve together,” said Olivier, Chief Operating Officer, Stellantis Asia Pacific. “As we commemorate this important milestone, our focus remains on evolving the partnership to enable future-ready manufacturing, innovation and sustainable growth in the region.”

Since its inception, FIAPL has produced over 1.37 million vehicles. The joint venture employs nearly 5,000 people and has an annual production capacity of around 222,000 vehicles. The Ranjangaon facility currently manufactures four Jeep models and three Tata Motors passenger vehicles.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Managing Director and CEO Shailesh Chandra said the collaboration reflects the strength of a long-standing relationship. “Our partnership with Stellantis through FIAPL is built on trust, shared values and a common vision. We look forward to further strengthening this relationship in the years ahead,” he said.

FIAPL operates an integrated vehicle and powertrain manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon near Pune. The plant produces a portfolio of globally recognised Stellantis models, including the Jeep Compass, Meridian, Grand Cherokee (CKD) and Wrangler (CKD), alongside Tata Motors’ bestselling models such as the Nexon, Altroz and Curvv. The facility is supported by in-house production of advanced engines, transmissions and traction motors, and exports vehicles to key international markets including Japan and South Africa.

Stellantis NV’s global portfolio spans brands such as Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS Automobiles, FIAT, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram and Vauxhall, along with mobility brands Free2move and Leasys.
