Tata Motors has secured its largest-ever order in Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in its global commercial vehicle business. PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited, has entered into an agreement to supply 70,000 commercial vehicles for deployment across Indonesia, to support agricultural activities and rural logistics.
Under the agreement, Tata Motors will supply 35,000 units each of the Tata Yodha pick-up and the Tata Ultra T.7 truck to its Indonesian subsidiary. The vehicles will be delivered to PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, an Indonesian state-owned enterprise focused on modernising agricultural supply chains, empowering rural cooperatives and strengthening national food security initiatives.
The fleet will play a key role in Indonesia’s flagship Koperasi Desa and Kelurahan Merah Putih Project, supporting farm-to-market transportation, regional goods movement and broader nation-building efforts by improving rural connectivity, livelihoods and economic resilience.
Designed to operate reliably in diverse and demanding conditions, Tata Motors’ vehicles are expected to help lower logistics costs and enhance the efficiency of goods movement across Indonesia’s vast rural and regional networks. The rollout will be executed through agricultural cooperatives under a structured, phased delivery programme to ensure smooth integration and sustained operational impact.
Commenting on the development, Asif Shamim, Director, PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia, said the order underlines growing global confidence in Indian commercial vehicles. “This order reflects the continued acceptance of Indian commercial vehicles in international markets and the trust customers place in their ability to perform reliably across diverse operating conditions. The Tata Yodha and Ultra T.7 are engineered for high uptime, sustained performance and efficient operating economics. Their deployment will significantly strengthen agricultural logistics in Indonesia by improving connectivity and enabling more efficient movement of goods across rural and regional corridors,” he said.
The Tata Yodha is positioned as a rugged last-mile mobility solution, designed to perform in challenging terrains where load, durability and reliability are critical. It enables seamless connectivity between farms, villages and rural enterprises and their end markets. The Tata Ultra T.7, meanwhile, is a modern, high-efficiency truck built for dependable cargo movement, combining durability, superior uptime and enhanced driver comfort across both urban and rural logistics operations.
Tata Motors currently offers one of the most comprehensive commercial vehicle portfolios globally, spanning sub-1 tonne to 60-tonne cargo vehicles and 9-seater to 71-seater mass mobility solutions across more than 40 countries. Backed by advanced research and development capabilities, deep manufacturing expertise and stringent validation standards, the company continues to strengthen India’s position as a trusted global source of purpose-built mobility solutions.
