CW Bureau ·

GMR Airports delivered a robust operational and financial performance in the December quarter showing strong recovery and sustained momentum. The airports operated by GMR Airports collectively handled a record 31.9 million passengers during the quarter, marking one of the strongest traffic performances in the company’s history.

The growth was led by Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport, which registered its highest-ever quarterly traffic at 20.8 million passengers, a 2.7%  year-on-year increase. Domestic traffic grew by 3% despite operational disruptions in December, while international traffic rose 2%, reflecting resilient demand for overseas travel. Over the first nine months of FY26, passenger traffic at Delhi stood at 57.5 million, with international volumes showing steady improvement.

Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport also posted a strong showing, handling 7.8 million passengers in Q3FY26, supported by phased capacity additions and steady domestic and international demand.

Meanwhile, Manohar International Airport at Mopa in Goa continued its growth trajectory, recording a new high of 1.46 million passengers during the quarter, highlighting its rising importance as a gateway to the state.

Beyond passenger traffic, GMR Airports made steady progress in its airport adjacency businesses. Duty free operations at both Delhi and Hyderabad achieved their highest-ever monthly sales in December 2025. Expansion work at the Hyderabad Duty Free departure store is underway, with new retail spaces being operationalised in phases to cater to growing traveller spends. The food and beverage segment also saw momentum, with phase-wise opening of new outlets at Hyderabad Airport continuing through the quarter.

Cargo operations remained a key strength. The Delhi Cargo Terminal handled its highest-ever monthly cargo tonnage in December 2025, while year-to-date cargo volumes at Delhi reached approximately 0.86 million tonnes in FY26. The airport also resumed direct connectivity to China, restoring services to Shanghai and Guangzhou, further supporting trade and logistics flows.

Financially, the quarter marked a significant turnaround. Total income rose sharply to ₹2,019 crore in Q3FY26, a 41% increase year-on-year, driven primarily by a 173%  surge in aeronautical revenues following the implementation of revised tariffs. Non-aeronautical revenues grew 11%, aided by retail, duty free and F&B performance. The company reported a profit after tax of ₹231 crore for the quarter, compared with a loss of ₹243 crore in Q3FY25, making it the highest quarterly PAT since Q3FY22.

Operational upgrades also advanced during the period, with Terminal 2 at Delhi Airport commencing operations from October 26, 2025, after upgradation. With enhanced passenger amenities, new F&B concessions across Terminals 2 and 3, and connectivity spanning 85 domestic and 72 international destinations, GMR Airports continues to strengthen its position as a leading global airport platform.
