Tamil Nadu State Government has signed two Memorandum of Understanding with the Aequs Group and Japan-based MinebeaMitsumi (Minebea India Ltd), attracting a combined investment of ₹5,980 crore in the aerospace and electronics sectors.
These projects are expected to generate around 8,400 jobs, further strengthening the State’s industrial and economic growth trajectory, said Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa.
Aequs will invest ₹4,000 crore to establish India’s first fully vertically integrated aircraft engine manufacturing project. The facility will be set up on a 250-acre site at SIPCOT in Shoolagiri, Krishnagiri district, and is projected to create nearly 7,000 high-quality jobs.
The proposed Aerospace and Defence Park will house integrated facilities for manufacturing aircraft engine and gearbox components, along with shared industrial infrastructure to support production and exports. The initiative forms part of the State government’s broader strategy to position Tamil Nadu as a global manufacturing hub, particularly in aerospace and defence.
MinebeaMitsumi, a global manufacturer of precision mechanical and electronic components catering to automotive, industrial and electronics sectors, will invest ₹1,980 crore in Tiruvallur district. The project is expected to generate around 1,400 high-end jobs.
In a social media tweet Rajaa said the investment would deepen Tamil Nadu’s precision engineering base and further integrate the State into global supply chains, highlighting continued confidence from Japanese companies.
The agreements were formalised in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin.
Together, the twin investments underscore Tamil Nadu’s focus on attracting high-value manufacturing while building robust industrial clusters that combine infrastructure, skilled talent and export-oriented capabilities.
