Nissan Motor India has announced the launch of Gravite, a bold new 7-seater MPV priced at an introductory ₹5.65 lakh, marking a renewed push in the company’s India strategy.
Positioned as a game-changing family vehicle, Gravite is the first model to be introduced under Nissan’s renewed product offensive and underlines its sharpened focus on growth and relevance in the Indian market.
The launch signals the beginning of a new chapter for Nissan in India, as the company accelerates investments across products, network expansion and local manufacturing.
Gravite has been developed to address the evolving mobility aspirations of Indian families, blending space, versatility and everyday practicality with a strong and confident road presence.
Commenting on the launch, Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President and President for the Middle East, KSA, CIS and India at Nissan and Infiniti, said India remains central to Nissan’s global ambitions. He noted that the company’s actions over the past year, strengthening operations, expanding the dealer network and embarking on a product-led strategy, reflect its long-term commitment to the market.
“Gravite is not just a product launch; it marks the beginning of a sustained growth phase for Nissan in India,” he said, adding that local manufacturing at the alliance partner facility in Chennai and a future-ready product roadmap will enable Nissan to compete and scale meaningfully.
Echoing this sentiment, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said Gravite draws inspiration from the diversity, scale and ambition of Indian families. “Every detail, from its modular seating to its commanding stance, reflects how Indian customers live, travel and grow together. Gravite is more than a product introduction; it is a promise that Nissan will continue to design, manufacture and invest in vehicles that resonate deeply with India’s mobility aspirations,” he said.
From a design and positioning standpoint, Gravite establishes a distinct identity aligned with Nissan’s global design language. Its elevated proportions, muscular body lines, pronounced wheel arches and high ground clearance are aimed at meeting varied Indian driving conditions. The vehicle also features distinctive hood branding and unique rear-door badging, an industry-first in its segment, enhancing exclusivity and brand recall.
Inside, Gravite focuses on cabin space and modularity, offering flexible seating configurations across three rows to suit both daily commuting and long-distance travel. Premium suede and leatherette quilted seats, along with generous shoulder, elbow, headroom and knee room across rows, reinforce Nissan’s emphasis on comfort-led family mobility.
With Gravite, Nissan Motor India is clearly placing products at the centre of its resurgence strategy, signalling intent to rebuild scale, strengthen brand relevance and compete more aggressively in high-volume segments of the Indian passenger vehicle market.
