Garment Mantra Stitches Re-Cycled T-Shirts, Eyes Orders from Africa, UAE

Garment Mantra Lifestyle  is weaving sustainability into its export growth strategy, as the Tiruppur-based apparel maker begins sampling a newly developed men’s T-shirt range crafted from recycled fabrics for select markets in Africa and the UAE.

The move marks a calculated step into fast-growing, under-penetrated geographies where demand for affordable, climate-suited apparel is rising alongside increasing awareness of sustainable sourcing.

The new collection integrates recycled yarns derived from post-consumer and post-industrial textile waste, aligning with global sustainability benchmarks while retaining durability and comfort. Designed to withstand varied climatic conditions across African regions and the Gulf, the range has been engineered to meet international export standards without compromising on price competitiveness, a key requirement for bulk distribution networks in emerging markets.

The company has initiated structured sampling with prospective buyers across targeted territories and expects feedback in the coming months. Subject to favourable responses and order confirmations, the initiative could translate into commercial export orders over the next few quarters.

Managing Director Prem Aggarwal described the development as a milestone in the company’s export journey.

“The initiation of sampling for our recycled fabric men’s T-shirt range marks an important milestone in our export growth strategy. Africa and the UAE present promising and under-penetrated markets with rising demand for quality and affordable apparel. Our product has been carefully developed to align with regional preferences while maintaining international quality standards,” he said.

Targeting Emerging Market Retail Networks

A notable feature of the offering is its customisation capability. The T-shirts can be tailored to buyer specifications, from fabric blends and GSM counts to branding requirements,  enabling Garment Mantra to position itself as a flexible sourcing partner for regional retailers.

The emphasis on affordability is strategic. Many African markets and parts of the UAE’s mass retail ecosystem are driven by value-conscious consumers, creating an opportunity for competitively priced, sustainable apparel sourced from India.

Strengthening the Export Engine

Founded over 25 years ago in Tiruppur, often referred to as India’s knitwear capital, Garment Mantra Lifestyle has built a reputation as a reliable supplier blending Indian textile craftsmanship with contemporary global designs. The company continues to sharpen its export focus while diversifying its product portfolio.

Sustainability, Aggarwal added, remains central to the company’s long-term vision. By integrating recycled materials into its export offerings, Garment Mantra is not only responding to global environmental expectations but also reinforcing its positioning as a responsible manufacturer.

Alongside its international push, the company is expanding its domestic wholesale footprint through hubs in Tiruppur and Surat, and has recently initiated a Tamil Nadu distribution network to strengthen nationwide reach.
