Goa Calling: Khoobsurat’s Craft Brewery Takes Shape with Salcete Brewing

Kolkata-based Khoobsurat Ltd is setting up a brewery project in Goa in collaboration with Salcete Brewing, marking its entry into India’s fast-growing craft beer segment.

The upcoming facility in South Goa is positioned as a blend of artisanal brewing and experiential hospitality. The company is currently in the process of installing its brew-house and fermentation tanks, with this phase expected to be completed by March 15.

In parallel, Khoobsurat is awaiting delivery of its bottling plant by the end of March 2026. Once the equipment arrives, technicians will undertake the integration of the fermentation tanks with the packaging plant.

The company is hopeful of brewing its first test batch of beer between mid- and end-April 2026. However, commercial production will commence only after the bottling plant becomes fully operational and is seamlessly connected to brewery production lines.

To facilitate this, a technical team from Germany is scheduled to visit the plant in March 2026 to oversee installation, calibration and commissioning of the bottling unit. The entire process — including integration and trial runs — is expected to be completed by mid-April 2026.

Salcete Brewing will bring its expertise in craft brewing and recipe development to the partnership, while Khoobsurat will drive investment, branding and market expansion. Salcete Brewing is an active India-based public company incorporated on June 27, 2023, in Goa, specializing in beverage manufacturing.

The brewery is expected to focus on small-batch production, locally inspired flavours and premium positioning, catering to both tourists and Goa’s evolving urban consumer base.

Industry observers note that Goa’s supportive excise framework for microbreweries and its steady tourist inflow have encouraged fresh investments in the segment.

With its phased commissioning plan and international technical support, Khoobsurat is aiming to ensure quality control from the outset.

Once operational, the brewery is expected to generate local employment and strengthen supply chains, positioning the venture as a significant addition to Goa’s craft beer landscape.
