Thomas Cook India Ltd has expanded its experiential hospitality brand Nature Trails with the launch of its sixth resort, Nature Trails Ashoka, in Hampi, Karnataka.
The brand already operates five resorts across Durshet, Sajan and Kundalika in Maharashtra, Rock Valley in Goa and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. The Hampi property marks a strategic addition as the company deepens its focus on culturally rich domestic destinations.
Nestled amid Hampi’s dramatic boulder-strewn hills, the resort is designed as a heritage-inspired retreat blending nature and history. Located on the edge of the region’s iconic rock formations, the property offers sweeping views of landscapes shaped over millions of years, terrain that once formed the heart of the Vijayanagara Empire.
The resort features a mix of accommodation options including Superior Rooms, Classic Rooms, eco-friendly Bamboo Cottage Rooms and a dormitory aimed at group travellers. Open spaces, landscaped gardens and eco-conscious layouts are intended to encourage slower, immersive stays aligned with the Nature Trails philosophy.
A standout feature is the hillside swimming pool, among the longest in the region, offering panoramic views of surrounding hills and greenery.
Dining options include Archana, an open-air multi-cuisine restaurant serving Indian, Chinese and Goan dishes, and Grills by the Pool, which offers barbeque selections and beverages in a relaxed poolside setting.
Guests can access curated experiences such as visits to Hampi’s UNESCO World Heritage monuments, treks to Anjanadri Hill, explorations of ancient temples, forts and sacred water bodies, as well as village visits, spice plantation tours, nature walks and seasonal monsoon trails. These experiences are designed to deepen engagement with the destination’s history, mythology and local traditions.
The resort is located approximately 3 km from Gangavathi, 10–11 km from Anjanadri Hill and about 22 km from Hampi town. It is accessible via Hubli Airport (around 170 km) and Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (around 340 km).
Thomas Cook India Managing Director and CEO Mahesh Iyer said domestic travel in India continues to witness growing interest in culturally immersive destinations.
“With the addition of Nature Trails Ashoka Resort, Hampi, we are deepening our focus on experience-led stays that encourage slower, more immersive travel,” he said.
Iyer added that following the acquisition of Nature Trails last year, the company has moved swiftly on an expansion agenda to tap the domestic tourism opportunity. The Hampi launch follows a recent opening in Rishikesh, with more additions planned to the portfolio in the near term.
