Renault India Sales Rise 31%; Builds Buzz Around Duster Comeback

CW Bureau ·

Renault India has extended its growth streak into 2026, reporting a sharp 31% year-on-year rise in wholesale volumes for February. The company dispatched 3,495 units during the month, compared to 2,676 units in February last year, reinforcing a steady turnaround driven by product refreshes and improving brand traction.

The performance caps a strong start to the calendar year, with Renault India posting a cumulative 32% growth in the first two months of 2026 over the corresponding period in 2025. Notably, the company has outpaced broader industry growth for the month, signaling rising competitiveness in India’s highly contested passenger vehicle market.

Triber, Kiger Power The Upswing

The growth momentum has been led by sustained demand for the refreshed Renault Triber and Renault Kiger. The Triber, in particular, emerged as the standout performer, delivering an impressive 57% year-on-year growth in February. Its strong value proposition in the sub-four-metre MPV space, combined with recent updates, has resonated well with cost-conscious and urban family buyers.

The Kiger, Renault’s compact SUV offering, has also contributed meaningfully to the improved volumes, benefiting from refreshed styling, feature enhancements, and sharper positioning in one of India’s fastest-growing segments.

Turnaround Gathers Pace Since Q3 2025

Renault India’s revival narrative has been building over the past few quarters. The company has recorded consistent year-on-year growth since the third quarter of calendar year 2025. It posted a 9% growth in Q3 CY25, accelerated to 27% in Q4 CY25, and further strengthened to 32% in the first two months of 2026.

This steady acceleration reflects a broader improvement in brand favourability and customer perception, driven by a refreshed product portfolio, enhanced dealer engagement, and sharper market communication.

Duster Comeback Adds To Positive Sentiment

The recently announced return of the iconic Renault Duster has added fresh energy to Renault’s India story. The Duster, which once helped establish Renault’s strong foothold in the Indian SUV market, continues to enjoy significant recall value among customers.

According to the company, the announcement has already translated into higher dealership footfalls, underscoring renewed consumer interest and anticipation around the brand’s future lineup.
