India’s fast-evolving luxury mobility landscape has a new benchmark. Mercedes-Benz has launched the new V-Class at an introductory price of ₹1.4 crore (ex-showroom, all India), positioning it as a “Private Suite on Wheels” for the country’s growing base of ultra-affluent families, entrepreneurs and trendsetters seeking privacy, exclusivity and elevated travel experiences.
Offered in both diesel (V300d) and petrol (V300) variants, the V-Class is available in an extra-long wheelbase configuration as standard, measuring 5,370 mm in length with a 3,430 mm wheelbase. The proportions underscore its core proposition: expansive space seamlessly integrated with avant-garde design and uncompromising luxury.
Creating a New Category: The Private Luxury Space
With the V-Class, Mercedes-Benz is targeting a structural shift in India’s luxury vehicle market, the rise of “personal luxury space.” Increasingly, affluent customers are opting for private mobility solutions that combine comfort, discretion and flexibility, particularly for family travel that may include children and pets.
The V-Class is designed to serve as an additional luxury vehicle in such households, a curated sanctuary on wheels where privacy, security and indulgence converge.
Mercedes-Benz India MD & CEO Santosh Iyer noted that the V-Class addresses a clear demand among India’s opulent customers who seek tranquility and personal space while travelling in ultimate comfort. He added that the decision to begin local production further reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market while delivering enhanced value to customers.
A First-Class Cabin Experience
The six-seat layout elevates the concept of road travel to first-class standards. The second row features individual luxury seats equipped with three-stage ventilation, massage functions, calf support, wireless charging and deployable cupholders, creating an executive lounge-like environment.
In a segment-first move, the third row offers ventilated seats, complemented by 3-point seat belts, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and USB charging ports, enhancing both comfort and safety for family occupants. The front row further establishes a refined command centre with electrically adjustable, ventilated seats and cushion-length adjustment.
The cabin ambience is enhanced by 64-colour ambient lighting and a Burmester® surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, powered by 15 loudspeakers delivering 640W output. THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control, heat-insulating glass with sunblinds and the ENERGIZING Comfort programme, featuring up to ten wellness modes and nature-inspired soundscapes, create a multi-sensory luxury experience.
Practical luxury elements include electric sliding doors operable from multiple access points and an electrically operable split tailgate for ease of loading in tight urban spaces.
India-First Features and Safety Leadership
India becomes the first market globally to offer AIRMATIC air suspension on both petrol and diesel powertrains for the V-Class, underlining the brand’s confidence in the Indian luxury market. The model also sets a new benchmark as the first in its segment to feature ventilated third-row seats.
Safety remains central to the proposition, with best-in-class seven standard airbags, including A-to-D pillar window airbags. Advanced driver assistance systems include Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, a 360-degree camera and Driver Camera with Attention Assist, positioning the V-Class as the safest vehicle in its category.
Strengthening ‘Make in India’ Commitment
In a strategic move aligned with its three-decade presence in the country, Mercedes-Benz India will commence local production of the V-Class. The announcement follows the start of local production of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV earlier this year, making the V-Class the second model slated for local manufacturing in 2026.
This localisation push reinforces Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to deepening its India footprint while improving value delivery and responsiveness to domestic demand.
Bookings for the V-Class are now open, with priority delivery extended to existing Mercedes-Benz customers. An initial booking amount of ₹5 lakh secures eligibility for the introductory price.
