Tata Technologies Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with Wittenstein High Integrity Systems (WHIS) to accelerate innovation in the fast-evolving world of software-defined vehicles (SDVs), marking a significant step in strengthening safety-certified automotive software architectures.
As part of the collaboration, WHIS’ flagship real-time operating system, SafeRTOS, will be integrated into Tata Technologies’ advanced automotive software stack. Known for its certifiable safety, reliability and deterministic real-time performance, SafeRTOS will serve as a core building block of Tata Technologies’ SDV platform. The move is designed to help automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers meet stringent functional safety requirements while reducing time-to-market for next-generation mobility solutions.
The partnership comes at a time when the global automotive industry is undergoing a profound transformation. Electrification, autonomous driving, connected technologies and the growing dominance of software are reshaping vehicle architectures. Modern vehicles are increasingly dependent on scalable, secure and safety-certified software platforms capable of managing complex electronic systems and real-time decision-making processes.
By combining Tata Technologies’ deep expertise in automotive software engineering with WHIS’s proven safety-critical embedded software solutions, the two companies aim to address the industry’s rising demand for robust SDV ecosystems. The integrated platform is expected to support the development of highly reliable vehicle control systems while ensuring compliance with global safety standards.
WHIS managing director Andrew Longhurst said: “Software is at the heart of the automotive industry’s evolution. The partnership will enable OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to leverage SafeRTOS to achieve the highest levels of safety and performance in software-defined vehicle architectures.”
The alliance underlines a shared commitment to driving innovation, safety and reliability in the automotive sector, positioning both companies to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of software-defined mobility.
Tata Technologies’ president of automotive sales Nachiket Paranjpe said the collaboration empowers customers to accelerate SDV adoption and deliver cutting-edge mobility experiences. By integrating advanced safety solutions into its SDV stack, Tata Technologies aims to support clients in navigating the transition toward connected, autonomous and electrified vehicles.
