Yamaha Strengthens Premium Bike Portfolio With XSR155 Black Variant

Yamaha Motor has expanded its premium motorcycle portfolio with the launch of the XSR155 in a new Metallic Black shade, priced at ₹1,58,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The latest colour option adds a bold, contemporary edge to the modern retro sport motorcycle, responding directly to strong customer demand.

The Metallic Black variant, complemented by striking golden upside-down (USD) front forks, enhances the XSR155’s timeless design language. The darker tone accentuates its muscular fuel tank, minimalist bodywork and retro-inspired styling cues, while reinforcing its premium road presence.

Responding To Rider Aspirations

Yamaha Motor India Group Chairman Hajime Aota said the introduction reflects the company’s rider-centric approach. He noted that the XSR155 has received exceptional response since its debut, highlighting the growing resonance of Yamaha’s “Modern Retro Sport” philosophy among Indian motorcyclists.

According to Aota, the decision to introduce a black variant was driven by clear feedback from Yamaha’s rider community. He added that the new colour is not merely an aesthetic update but a reflection of Yamaha’s commitment to delivering individuality, performance and emotional appeal in one package.

Strengthening Premium Positioning

Launched in November last year, the XSR155 has quickly emerged as a preferred choice for enthusiasts seeking a blend of retro styling and sporty performance. The addition of the Metallic Black option further strengthens Yamaha’s premium and performance-led positioning in India’s competitive 150cc–200cc motorcycle segment.

Performance Meets Engineering Precision

Built for agile city rides and spirited weekend outings, the XSR155 features a lightweight, well-balanced chassis with 17-inch wheels for confident handling. It is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine equipped with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), producing 13.5 kW of power and 14.2 Nm of torque, ensuring strong acceleration across the rev range.

The motorcycle is underpinned by Yamaha’s proven Deltabox frame and comes equipped with an aluminium swing arm, USD front forks, linked-type monocross rear suspension, and a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch for precise control and smooth gear shifts. Safety features include dual-channel ABS and traction control, enhancing rider confidence across varied riding conditions.
