Escorts Kubota Launches Shaurya Series Tailor-Made For South India

CW Bureau ·

Escorts Kubota, a leading agri-machinery and construction equipment manufacturer, has unveiled the Powertrac Shaurya series, a new paddy-focused tractor range tailored specifically for the wetland farming conditions of Southern India.

The launch marks the first time the company’s value-segment brand Powertrac has introduced a dedicated paddy and wetland tractor platform. The Shaurya series comprises five variants in the 39 HP to 52 HP category and is targeted at key paddy-growing states including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Escorts Kubota operates three tractor brands in India such as Kubota (premium segment), Farmtrac (entry-premium) and Powertrac (value segment). The Shaurya series strengthens the company’s presence in the fast-mechanising paddy cultivation segment while improving its regional portfolio mix.

Engineered for Wetland Conditions

Developed specifically for paddy cultivation, the Shaurya series has been engineered to operate efficiently in waterlogged and wetland conditions. The tractors feature cassette-type sealing across critical aggregates to minimise water and mud ingress during field operations.

With a sharp turning radius of 3.1 metres, the series is designed to ensure better manoeuvrability in small and medium-sized farm plots typical of Southern India. The tractors come equipped with a fully constant mesh gearbox offering 8 forward and 2 reverse gears.

The hydraulic lift capacity ranges between 1,600 kg and 2,000 kg depending on the variant, powered by Sensi-1 hydraulics, enabling compatibility with a wide range of implements used in paddy farming.

An independent PTO lever with a double clutch configuration allows precise implement control, including advanced applications such as baler usage. The tractors offer dual PTO speeds of 540/1000 along with reverse PTO functionality, supporting diversified paddy operations.

Additional features include a perforated elevated platform designed for wetland use, protected wiring harness routing within the fender channel to enhance durability in muddy conditions, and an adjustable slider seat with anti-slippery pads to improve operator comfort during long working hours.

Strategic Focus on Southern Markets

Escorts Kubota CMD Nikhil Nanda said Southern India is central to the company’s next phase of growth.

“The launch of Shaurya aligns with our strategy of strengthening our presence through focused, application-led products. We are deepening our engagement in paddy markets while expanding our regional footprint,” he said.

Deputy MD Akira Kato emphasised that the product was engineered starting from field realities rather than adapting standard tractor platforms.

“Shaurya has been developed specifically for paddy and wetland operations in Southern markets to deliver reliability in demanding applications,” he noted.

Chief financial officer Bharat Madan added that the introduction enhances the company’s participation in the paddy segment and improves the regional composition of its tractor portfolio, helping maintain resilience across agricultural cycles.

With the Shaurya series, Escorts Kubota aims to consolidate its position in India’s value tractor segment while capitalising on mechanisation opportunities in one of the country’s most important rice-producing regions
