Hinduja Global Solutions Arm To Help Expand UP’s Broadband Connectivity

One OTT Intertainment Ltd (OIL), the broadband vertical of Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) , part of the Hinduja Group has partnered with the State Transformation Commission (STC) to roll out a major dgital inclusion programme in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at expanding broadband connectivity while creating thousands of local digital entrepreneurs.

The initiative, known as Project GANGA (Government Assisted Network for Growth & Advancement), is designed to accelerate digital infrastructure development in one of India’s most populous states. The programme will focus on empowering youth and enabling 8,000 to 10,000 entrepreneurs at the nyaya panchayat level to operate as Digital Service Providers (DSPs), delivering high-speed broadband access to communities across the state.

Through the project, the partners aim to connect more than two million households over the next two to three years, while also generating over 1,00,000 direct and indirect jobs. The initiative is expected to play a key role in strengthening digital access in semi-urban and rural regions, where reliable connectivity remains a critical enabler of economic and social development.

Project GANGA is also expected to create new opportunities for women entrepreneurs, with a significant share of the DSP network likely to be led by women. The initiative is structured to provide local operators with end-to-end support, including training, financial assistance, network infrastructure development and technology enablement, helping them establish sustainable digital service businesses in their communities.

According to STC CEO Manoj Kumar Singh, the programme aligns closely with the state government’s long-term digital development agenda. “Project GANGA is a significant step toward expanding inclusive digital infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. The initiative supports the government’s digital vision of improving access to education, healthcare and public services while enabling MSMEs and enterprises with reliable high-speed connectivity,” he said.

Singh added that empowering local entrepreneurs through the programme will strengthen service delivery and ensure affordable digital access in underserved areas.

OIL MD & CEO Vynsley Fernandes said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to expanding digital access while creating new livelihood opportunities. “By combining the Government’s digital vision with OIL’s execution capabilities, we aim to expand connectivity while creating sustainable livelihoods through entrepreneurship,” he said.

Fernandes noted that the initiative has been structured as a multi-year programme focused on entrepreneur onboarding, network deployment and workforce development.

Project GANGA will be supported by the national digital infrastructure footprint of HGS and its affiliate NXTDIGITAL. Together, the companies currently connect more than five million homes across India and operate in over 4,500 pin codes spanning nearly 1,500 cities and towns.

Their network ecosystem also includes partnerships with around 15,000 franchise partners and access to more than 200,000 kilometres of fibre infrastructure, providing the scale required to support a large state-wide connectivity initiative.

Project GANGA aims to develop a broader digital ecosystem that supports multiple services. These include IPTV, OTT entertainment, CCTV-based security solutions, satellite internet connectivity and cybersecurity services for households, businesses and public institutions.

By integrating connectivity infrastructure with local entrepreneurship, the programme is expected to create a sustainable digital economy model that can expand digital access while driving employment and skill development across Uttar Pradesh.

With this collaboration, both the government and industry partners aim to accelerate digital transformation in the state while building a scalable model for inclusive digital growth.
