Lemon Tree Signs New Property In Gorakhpur, Expands UP Footprint

CW Bureau ·

Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd has expanded its portfolio in emerging urban and transit destinations across the country with the signing of a new property, Lemon Tree Hotel, Gorakhpur, in Uttar Pradesh.

With this addition, the hospitality chain now has 26 hotels in Uttar Pradesh, comprising eight operational properties and 18 in the pipeline, including the newly signed hotel.

The upcoming hotel will be managed by Carnation Hotels Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lemon Tree Hotels that oversees the group’s managed and franchised properties.

Gorakhpur, located in eastern Uttar Pradesh, is an important regional centre known for its cultural heritage, growing commercial activity and strong connectivity to neighbouring states as well as the Indo–Nepal border.

The city also serves as a key transit hub for travellers visiting several prominent religious and tourist destinations in the region, creating steady demand for quality hospitality infrastructure.

The proposed Lemon Tree Hotel, Gorakhpur will feature 76 keys along with a range of guest amenities designed to cater to both business and leisure travellers.

Strategically located, the property will be about 14 km from Gorakhpur Airport and approximately 8.5 km from Gorakhpur Railway Station, ensuring convenient access for travellers arriving by air or rail.

The expansion forms part of Lemon Tree Hotels’ broader strategy to strengthen its presence in tier-II and tier-III cities where business activity, infrastructure development and tourism are driving demand for branded hotels.

Lemon Tree Hotels CEO – Managed & Franchise Business Vilas Pawar said Gorakhpur represents a promising market for hospitality growth in the region.

“Gorakhpur is an important gateway city in eastern Uttar Pradesh with increasing economic and travel activity. This signing aligns with our strategy of expanding into high-potential regional centres where we see sustained demand for branded hospitality,” he said.

Lemon Tree Hotels has been steadily expanding its network across India by focusing on emerging markets and transit locations where organised hospitality supply remains limited but demand is rising due to business travel, pilgrimage tourism and improved connectivity.

The company currently operates across multiple segments, including upscale, midscale and economy brands, and continues to pursue an asset-light growth strategy through management and franchise partnerships.
