Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) has been ranked world No.1 in the FMCG category on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Sustainability Index 2025, marking a significant milestone for the Indian consumer goods major. This is the first time the company has secured the top position on the globally respected sustainability benchmark.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), based on the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), is one of the world’s most widely followed benchmarks for evaluating corporate sustainability performance across economic, environmental and social parameters.
GCPL achieved a score of 89 out of 100 in the Personal Products category in the S&P Global CSA, which assessed more than 3,500 companies worldwide. The score places the company among the leading global consumer goods firms on environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
Within the FMCG sector, the index evaluates companies across a wide range of sustainability metrics, including emission reduction strategies, responsible sourcing of raw materials, packaging management, water stewardship, product lifecycle management and labour practices.
In addition to securing the top ranking, S&P Global also recognised GCPL for completing 10 years of active participation in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment, highlighting the company’s sustained engagement with global sustainability standards.
“Godrej Consumer Products Ltd being ranked No.1 globally on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index is a defining milestone for GCPL and a moment of immense pride for all of us,” said GCPL MD & CEO Sudhir Sitapati.
He added that sustainability is deeply embedded in the company’s purpose of bringing the goodness of health and beauty to consumers in emerging markets.
“Our focus on creating value for people and the planet alongside profit shapes how we build our brands, design our products and run our operations,” Sitapati said.
Godrej Industries Group Head – Sustainability & CSR, Pakzan Dastoor said the recognition reflects a decade of consistent efforts in embedding sustainability into the company’s business strategy and operations.
