Global streaming giant Netflix has launched Eyeline Studios, its global production and innovation studio, in Hyderabad, marking a significant investment in India’s rapidly expanding Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) ecosystem.

The new facility, spread across about 32,000 square feet, is equipped with advanced visual effects and virtual production technologies supported by hybrid cloud infrastructure. The studio will be part of Eyeline Studios’ global network, which already operates centres in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul and London.

With the Hyderabad launch, Netflix aims to strengthen India’s role in global production pipelines while accelerating the use of next-generation technologies in visual storytelling.

India has steadily emerged as a key hub for creative technology and digital production, supported by policy initiatives and growing investments in skill development across emerging media sectors.

The establishment of Eyeline Studios is expected to further boost the country’s AVGC ecosystem by nurturing talent, encouraging technology adoption and integrating Indian creators with global production networks.

Welcoming the initiative, Telangana chief  minister  Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad has evolved into a vibrant centre where creativity, technology and global talent converge.

He noted that initiatives such as Eyeline Studios would strengthen the city’s position as a major hub for filmmaking, technology and the AVGC sector, while opening new opportunities for storytellers and creative professionals.

Ministry of information and broadcasting secretary Sanjay Jaju said India’s rich storytelling tradition combined with growing technological capabilities is driving the expansion of the entertainment and media industry. He pointed out that Hyderabad already has a strong legacy in the AVGC space, with several global studios operating in the city.

He also highlighted the upcoming campus of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) in Hyderabad, which is expected to further strengthen skill development and capacity building in the creative technology sector.

Referring to the government’s broader push to grow the creative economy, he said that under the WAVES initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had emphasised the importance of the “Orange Economy.” As part of this focus, the government has announced plans to set up 15,000 content creator labs across the country, which are expected to generate around two million jobs in the creative economy.

Eyeline Studios CEO Jeff Shapiro said India has long played a critical role in the global visual effects industry, thanks to its strong pool of creative and technical talent.

Hyderabad’s growing technology ecosystem and rich film culture, he added, make it an ideal location for building long-term capabilities that contribute to global visual storytelling.
