TVS Motor Company has strengthened its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of the Orbiter V1, a new variant designed to make EV commuting more accessible for urban riders. Alongside the launch, the company also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model across its electric scooter lineup, offering customers a flexible ownership option.
With the addition of the Orbiter V1 and the BaaS programme, TVS Motor’s electric scooter range now starts at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi) under the subscription-based battery model. Customers who prefer to buy the scooter without the BaaS plan can purchase the Orbiter V1 for ₹84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The TVS Orbiter V1 is powered by a 1.8 kWh battery and is designed primarily for everyday city commuting. The launch expands the Orbiter lineup, which now includes two variants , the V1 with a 1.8 kWh battery and the V2 with a 3.1 kWh battery.
According to the company, the Orbiter V1 delivers a certified IDC range of 86 km and supports 0–80% charging in around two hours and 20 minutes, making it suitable for daily urban mobility needs. The scooter comes equipped with several connected features, including a mobile app interface, a front LED headlamp with visor, and a coloured LCD cluster that displays incoming calls.
The design focuses on comfort and practicality for city riders. The scooter features an 845 mm flat-form seat designed to comfortably accommodate both rider and pillion, while a 290 mm straight-line footboard provides ample legroom. A wide upright handlebar offers an ergonomic riding posture, and the 34-litre under-seat storage can accommodate two helmets.
TVS Motor Company president- India of 2W business Gaurav Gupta said the Orbiter V1 provides a more accessible entry point into the company’s EV lineup while the BaaS model introduces greater flexibility in EV ownership.
The Orbiter V1 also offers a connected riding experience through features such as crash and fall alerts, anti-theft and geo-fencing notifications, remote battery monitoring through a mobile app, and turn-by-turn navigation. Additional rider assistance features include Hill Hold Assist, Cruise Control, Parking Assist, over-the-air software updates, and dual ride modes, Eco and Power, with regenerative braking.
A key highlight of the launch is the introduction of the Battery-as-a-Service model, which separates the cost of the vehicle from the battery, allowing customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of paying the entire cost upfront. Under the programme, flexible payment plans start from ₹862 per month, with extended warranty coverage of up to five years or 70,000 km included during the subscription period.
TVS Motor Company senior VP & head of commuter & EV business Aniruddha Haldar said the move reflects the company’s focus on expanding practical EV mobility options and accelerating the adoption of electric two-wheelers in India.
