Ducati India has launched the Desmo450 MX, its first-ever motocross motorcycle in the Indian market, marking the company’s entry into the country’s fast-growing off-road motorcycling segment. Developed and tested on the competitive circuits of the MXGP World Championship, the Desmo450 MX brings Ducati’s racing heritage and engineering expertise to Indian riders seeking high-performance off-road machines.
The new motorcycle has been designed to deliver powerful performance, lightweight agility and advanced electronic control systems, making it suitable for both professional riders and enthusiasts exploring motocross riding.
Racing DNA Drives Performance
At the heart of the Desmo450 MX is a 449.6 cc Ducati single-cylinder engine equipped with the brand’s signature Desmodromic valve distribution system, a feature rarely seen in motocross motorcycles. The engine is engineered to deliver strong torque at low and mid-range revs while offering impressive power at higher revs.
The motorcycle also features a lightweight aluminium frame constructed with minimal welds, enhancing rigidity, durability and handling precision. This design approach ensures greater agility and stability when riding on challenging off-road terrains.
Advanced Electronics For Rider Confidence
The Desmo450 MX introduces sophisticated electronics to the motocross segment. It is the first motocross motorcycle to feature a traction control system capable of accurately measuring rear-wheel slip and activating only when necessary, ensuring that the system does not interfere with performance.
These technologies are designed to provide riders with better control and confidence while pushing the limits of off-road performance.
Ducati India MD Bipul Chandra said the motorcycle represents a significant milestone for the brand in the country.
“The arrival of the Desmo450 MX is a landmark moment for Ducati in India. We have seen a growing passion for off-road and motocross motorcycling in the country, and we are thrilled to enter this exciting segment with a product that represents pure, state-of-the-art Ducati performance,” he said.
“The Desmo450 MX is a testament to our racing heritage and our commitment to providing Indian riders with the most advanced and capable Ducati motorcycles in the world. We believe this motorcycle will resonate with a new generation of riders and expand the Ducatisti community in India into the world of motocross adventure,” he added.
