Renewable energy company CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions is witnessing a sharp surge in demand from data centre and AI-driven businesses, with the segment now accounting for a significant share of its renewable energy portfolio, according to founder and MD Kuldeep Jain.
Data & AI Segment Powers Growth
Speaking during an earnings call, Jain said the company’s data centre business has grown tenfold, now contributing around 42% of its contracted capacity.
Out of CleanMax’s total 5.7 GW energy sale capacity, nearly 2.4 GW is tied to data and AI customers, underlining the rapid expansion of digital infrastructure demand.
He explained that this business operates under two distinct models. One is direct power supply wherein renewable energy supplied for physical consumption at data centres located within India. This accounts for roughly one-third of the segment.
Second one is environmental attribute purchase agreements (EAPAs). These form the remaining two-thirds, where global technology companies pay for the environmental benefits of renewable energy without physically consuming the electricity.
Scaling Execution Remains Core Focus
In a recent letter to shareholders, Jain outlined CleanMax’s aggressive growth roadmap, emphasising execution at scale as a key priority.
The company delivered 1.3 GW of operational capacity in the 11 months ended March 1, 2026, and is now targeting over 1.5 GW capacity addition in FY27.
He noted that scaling commercial and industrial (C&I) renewables involves complex execution across multiple states, including land acquisition, construction, grid approvals, financing, and lengthy customer negotiations.
Betting Big On Data & AI Energy Transition
CleanMax plans to further its presence in the fast-growing data and AI energy segment, where it already has 2,397 MW of contracted capacity, marking nearly 10x growth in two years.
The company aims to position itself as a leading renewable energy partner for both global and Indian technology firms.
Building A One-Stop Net Zero Platform
As part of its long-term strategy, CleanMax is expanding its offerings into a comprehensive Net Zero solutions platform for corporates.
Key initiatives include integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into its renewable portfolio, expansion of carbon services and development of a broader renewable energy services ecosystem.
Driving Capital Efficiency
CleanMax is also focusing on improving capital efficiency by adopting a hybrid investment model. The company plans to partner with strategic investors at the asset level, attract long-term minority capital and retain control at the holding company level while consolidating cash flows.
This approach is expected to enhance returns while maintaining operational control and scalability.
