Global renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group has secured a 100 MW wind energy repeat order from Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL), marking its sixth order from the PSU.
The power generated from the project will be utilised to support the decarbonisation of GAIL’s upcoming petrochemical plant at Nandurbar in Maharashtra.
Project scope and execution
Suzlon will install 47 S120 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 2.1 MW, as part of the project.
The company will undertake supply of wind turbines, project execution including erection and commissioning, and provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services post-commissioning.
Strengthening PSU order book
This order marks Suzlon’s fourth PSU win in FY26, following contracts from NTPC, BPCL and AMC, highlighting its growing traction in the public sector segment.
It also represents the company’s sixth engagement with GAIL, with earlier projects executed across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat.
Expanding footprint in Maharashtra
With over 2.2 GW of installed capacity and a market share of about 38% in Maharashtra, Suzlon continues to play a key role in strengthening the State’s renewable energy capacity.
The latest order further consolidates its presence in Maharashtra, a key renewable energy hub in the country.
Strategic momentum
“We have worked over the years in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and are now extending this partnership with a maiden order in Maharashtra. Two years ago, we re-entered the PSU segment, starting with a 1.1 GW order from NTPC. Today, PSU and C&I constitute over 64% of our order book and we are working with all the leading PSUs and C&Is in the country,” Suzlon Group, Chief Executive Officer, Ajay Kapoor.
