The Union government has disbursed incentives worth ₹2,377.56 crore under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile and auto components sector.
Similarly, under the electronics sector, covering Large-Scale Electronics Manufacturing and IT Hardware 2.0, around ₹15,554 crore has been disbursed as incentives.
PLI Schemes Drive Investment, Production and Jobs
The Centre has implemented PLI schemes across 14 sectors to boost domestic manufacturing, attract investments, promote exports, and generate employment.
As of December 31, 2025, these schemes have attracted cumulative investments exceeding ₹2.16 lakh crore. They have generated production and sales worth over ₹20.41 lakh crore and exports of more than ₹8.3 lakh crore, while creating employment for over 14.39 lakh people, both directly and indirectly.
Strong Growth in Electronics and Auto Manufacturing
Under the electronics sector (Large-Scale Electronics Manufacturing and IT Hardware 2.0), 59 companies reported incremental production of about ₹2,45,375 crore during the current financial year up to December 2025.
In the automobile and auto components sector, 72 companies reported incremental production of around ₹13,126 crore during the same period.
Overall Impact of PLI Schemes
Overall, the PLI schemes have attracted investments of over ₹2.16 lakh crore and generated incremental production worth approximately ₹4,20,581 crore in the current financial year up to December 2025.
Since their inception, these schemes have resulted in cumulative production and sales exceeding ₹20.41 lakh crore across 14 sectors.
Complementary Government Initiatives
In addition to the PLI schemes, the government has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen domestic manufacturing, reduce import dependence, and enhance supply chain resilience incluing Semicon India Programme which aims to develop a domestic semiconductor ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports in a highly concentrated global supply chain.
Flagship Programmes
Other flagship schemes are Electronics Manufacturing Schemes (ECMS, SPECS, EMC, M-SIPS) to promote domestic production of electronic components and the development of cluster-based ecosystemsand PM Gati Shakti that enables coordinated infrastructure planning and multimodal connectivity, reducing logistics costs and transit time. Besides, there are Scheme for Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnets which seeks to enhance self-reliance and position India as a key player in the global REPM market and National Critical Mineral Mission that aims to secure India’s critical mineral supply chain by ensuring availability from both domestic and international sources.
