Hindustan Zinc Ltd, a Vedanta Group company and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, reported its highest-ever mined metal production of 1,114 kt in FY26. The growth was driven by higher ore production and improved grades, reflecting strong mining efficiencies.
Refined zinc output rises
The company posted refined zinc production of 851 kt, marking a 3% year-on-year increase. The growth was supported by the commissioning of debottlenecking projects, the addition of a 160 ktpa roaster, and full-year Pyro operations in zinc-lead mode, enhancing overall capacity utilisation.
Lead output impacted
Refined lead production stood at 197 kt, down 13% YoY. The decline was primarily due to Pyro operations running partially in lead mode during the previous period, along with lower plant availability.
Silver & renewable energy performance
Silver production was reported at 627 metric tonnes, broadly in line with lead output and impacted by lower silver input from mines as per the mining sequence. Meanwhile, wind power generation rose 7% YoY to 372 MU, supported by favourable wind velocity conditions.
Strong finish to FY26
In 4QFY26, Hindustan Zinc recorded its best-ever quarterly mined metal production at 315 kt, driven by higher ore output and improved grades.
Refined metal production for the quarter stood at 282 kt, supported by additional capacity unlocked through debottlenecking initiatives at Chanderiya and Dariba, improved operational efficiencies, and higher plant availability.
Quarterly silver & power output
Silver production for the quarter came in at 176 metric tonnes, up 11% sequentially, in line with lead output. Wind power generation stood at 56 MU, consistent with prevailing wind conditions.
