Ola Electric Gets PLI Nod For Roadster X+, Accelerates EV Motorcycle Drive

CW Bureau ·

Ola Electric has received Certification for Compliance with eligibility assessment requirements under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme from the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) for its Roadster X+ 11 kW 4.5 kWh model under the PLI Scheme for Automobile and Auto Components (PLI-Auto Scheme).

First in Roadster portfolio
With this, the Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh becomes the first motorcycle in the Roadster portfolio to secure PLI certification, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into the electric motorcycle segment.

Eligibility & localisation validation
The certification confirms compliance with minimum Domestic Value Addition (DVA) requirements, making all units of the Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh eligible for incentives under the PLI-Auto Scheme. This underscores Ola Electric’s progress in deep localisation and indigenous manufacturing.

Ability to scale sustainably

Commenting on the development, an Ola Electric spokesperson said, “The PLI certification for our Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh is a strong validation of our efforts towards deep localisation and building a truly indigenous EV ecosystem. With our Roadster lineup, we are making electric motorcycles accessible to a much wider set of customers, while leading category creation in the electric motorcycle segment. This milestone further strengthens our ability to scale sustainably while continuing to deliver high-performance, technology-led EVs at compelling price points.”

Strengthening EV Manufacturing Ecosystem
This milestone reinforces Ola Electric’s continued focus on vertically integrated manufacturing, localisation, and advancing indigenous EV technologies. It also strengthens the company’s role in India’s evolving advanced automotive manufacturing ecosystem.

Price cut on Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh
The company had recently announced a significant price reduction for its 4680 Bharat Cell-powered Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh, driven by economies of scale at its Gigafactory and deeper vertical integration. With improved cost efficiencies, the model is now priced at ₹1,29,999, down from ₹1,89,999, and will be available in limited units during specific purchase windows
