SAIL Posts Record FY26 Performance With Highest-Ever Sales & Production

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), India’s largest steelmaking public sector enterprise, has delivered its best-ever performance in FY 2025–26, setting new benchmarks across both sales and production.

Sales cross 20 MT mark, up 11.5% y-o-y

Strengthening its brand presence and expanding customer reach, SAIL recorded its highest-ever sales of 20.14 million tonnes (MT), marking an 11.5% growth over 18.07 MT in the previous year.

The growth was broad-based, with demand increasing across all product categories, reflecting strong market traction and improved distribution reach.

Record production driven by operational excellence

On the production front, SAIL achieved its highest-ever crude steel output of 19.43 MT and saleable steel production of 19.176 MT, surpassing all previous records.

The performance was supported by improved efficiency parameters, underlining the company’s continued focus on operational excellence and competitive, sustainable steelmaking.

Railway supplies and rail production hit new highs

SAIL’s strategic contribution to infrastructure development was evident in its record supplies of 1.25 MT to Indian Railways.

The company also reported all-time high long rail production from its Universal Rail Mill, further strengthening its role in supporting India’s rail expansion.

Exports surge, new markets added

SAIL’s export performance saw a sharp uptick, with shipments rising to 2.9 lakh tonnes—registering a robust 162% growth.

The company also expanded its global footprint by entering new international markets, including Bhutan.

These achievements reinforce SAIL’s ability to deliver consistent value, enhance brand positioning, and expand its customer base across domestic and international markets.
