BMW Group India Clocks Record Q1 Sales, EV Surge Powers 17% Growth

BMW Group India recorded its highest-ever Q1 car sales, delivering 4,567 units in the first quarter of calendar year 2026, marking a strong growth of 17% year-on-year. The year began on a positive note, with each month achieving record sales despite a moderate industry

In a strong position in 2026

BMW Group India President and CEO Hardeep Singh Brar stated that the company has entered 2026 in a strong position, achieving record Q1 sales despite macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges.

He emphasised the brand’s leadership in luxury electric mobility and outlined an ambitious product offensive, with multiple launches planned through the year, alongside a continued focus on customer experience, aftersales, and brand engagement.

Electric vehicles drive growth

BMW Group India maintained its lead in the luxury EV segment, selling 1,185 BMW and MINI electric vehicles in Q1, a sharp growth of 83% YoY. EVs now account for 26% of total sales, with every fourth car sold being electric. The company holds over 70% market share in the luxury EV segment.

The company continues to strengthen its EV ecosystem with initiatives such as Destination Charging, Smart E-Routing, Charging Concierge, and High-Power Charging Corridors. Customers have access to over 6,000 charging points nationwide.

The EV portfolio includes models such as the BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i5, BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, MINI Countryman E, MINI Countryman SE ALL4, BMW CE 04, and BMW CE 02.

Strong demand across segments

Long Wheelbase models contributed over 50% of total sales, growing 23% YoY to 2,256 units. Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) saw even faster growth of 38% YoY, reaching 2,966 units and accounting for 65% of total sales.

MINI recorded sales of 213 units, growing 42% YoY, supported by strong demand across Hatch, Convertible, and Countryman models.

BMW Motorrad performance

BMW Motorrad delivered 1,216 motorcycles in Q1 2026, with demand led by models such as the BMW G 310 RR, BMW S 1000 RR, BMW 900 GS / GSA, and BMW 1300 GS / GSA.

Product offensive and expansion

BMW Group India plans to launch 27 new products in 2026, including new-generation models, facelifts, and limited editions. Four launches were completed in Q1, with eight more planned in Q2.

The company is also expanding its retail footprint under the Retail.NEXT concept, with 97 touchpoints across 40 cities and plans to add 19 new outlets in 18 cities during the year.

Customer engagement and financial services

BMW Group India continues to strengthen customer engagement through experiential platforms such as BMW M Drift Academy, BMW Golf Cup, and MINI Go-Kart Days, alongside cultural partnerships with events like the India Art Fair and Kochi Muziris Biennale.

BMW India Financial Services financed one in four BMW cars sold in Q1, offering flexible and customer-friendly ownership solutions, including lower EMIs, assured buy-back options, and upgrade flexibility.
