JSW MG Motor India has announced that its D SUV, the MG Majestor, has set a new Guinness World Records title for the ‘Heaviest Train Pulled by a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Rail’.
Record-breaking feat in Jammu & Kashmir
The Majestor successfully pulled a 406.4-tonne train over a distance of 300 feet on a secured railway section between Kakapora railway station and Awantipora railway station in Jammu and Kashmir. This achievement surpasses the Guinness World Records qualifying benchmarks of 400 tonnes and 100 feet, establishing a new global standard for SUV capability.
Standard production vehicle used
The Majestor used for the attempt was a standard production vehicle, with no engine or drivetrain modifications and no traction-enhancing alterations.
Extreme performance validation
The record placed the SUV under extreme load conditions, testing its traction management, torque delivery, and structural integrity. Powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine delivering 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque, the Majestor executed the pull with measured progression and consistent control, emerging as one of the world’s most capable and resilient SUVs.
Independent monitoring and verification
The attempt was monitored by independent automotive and motorsport experts to ensure that the train movement was solely powered by the Majestor, with no external propulsion or assistance applied, and that the vehicle maintained stable, controlled performance across the full pull distance.
Compliance with Guinness protocols
All parameters, including train weight, track conditions, and distance, were professionally documented in accordance with Guinness World Records verification protocols. The train, comprising a WAG-9HC locomotive, passenger coaches, and a guard coach, was independently verified at 406 tonnes.
Setting new benchmarks for capability
“This achievement is a powerful demonstration of what the Majestor is engineered to deliver. It reflects our focus on building vehicles that combine strength, precision, and control, even in the most demanding conditions. With the Majestor, we are setting new benchmarks for capability while staying committed to delivering meaningful innovation and confidence to our customers,” said JSW MG Motor India MD Anurag Mehrotra.
Product positioning and features
The Majestor is built for customers who seek a lifestyle defined by bold presence, unyielding dominance, and superior capability. It blends rugged engineering with refined comfort and intelligent technology. Powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine delivering best-in-segment 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque, paired with a best-in-class 8-speed automatic transmission, the SUV features first-in-segment triple differential locks (front, rear, and centre), an advanced 4WD system with 10 off-road modes, crawl control mode, 219 mm ground clearance, and an 810 mm water-wading capability.
