Kamarajar Port Ltd (KPL) has reported a strong operational performance for FY26, signalling its growing role in India’s maritime trade ecosystem. The port handled a container throughput of 7,00,000 TEUs during the year, reflecting steady growth in cargo movement and improved operational efficiency.
Record parcel and vessel movement
A key highlight of the year was the handling of the largest parcel of 10,007 TEUs by the vessel M.V. Maersk Savannah, marking a significant milestone in the port’s cargo handling capabilities. The port also recorded annual vessel traffic of 1,008 ships, demonstrating its capacity to manage high volumes while maintaining seamless operations.
Growth in automobile logistics
In the automobile segment, the port handled 1,91,825 units during the financial year. This performance further strengthens its position as a key hub for automobile exports and imports, supporting India’s growing automotive trade.
