Air India Partners With WestJet To Expand North America Connectivity

Tata-owned Air India has entered into an interline partnership with Canada’s leading leisure carrier, WestJet, significantly expanding connectivity between India and North America. The collaboration enables travellers to seamlessly connect beyond Air India’s existing gateways of Toronto and Vancouver to a wider network across Canada and the United States.

Single-ticket convenience, enhanced travel experience
Under the agreement, passengers can book single-ticket itineraries combining Air India and WestJet flights, ensuring a smoother end-to-end journey. The partnership brings together coordinated baggage handling, streamlined transfers, and simplified travel planning, enhancing overall passenger convenience.

Wider network across Canada and the US
Through this partnership, Air India passengers arriving in Toronto or Vancouver can access onward connections on WestJet to 17 destinations across Canada, including Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax and Victoria, among others. In the United States, travellers gain access to 14 cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Orlando, significantly broadening Air India’s North American footprint.

More gateways linked
Select Canadian destinations, including Halifax, Calgary and St. John’s, are also accessible via Air India’s European gateways at Amsterdam (Schiphol), Paris (Charles de Gaulle), London (Heathrow), and London (Gatwick), further enhancing route flexibility.

Strategic push in a key market
Air India , Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal said that strong people-to-people ties and growing trade continue to drive demand. The partnership with WestJet, he said, enables Air India to offer more accessible and effortless travel across North America, backed by greater destination choice and seamless connectivity.

Unlocking new travel opportunities
WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer John Weatherill, said that the collaboration combines Air India’s long-haul strength with WestJet’s extensive North American network, unlocking new travel opportunities and improving the overall journey experience for passengers.

Robust operations backing the expansion
Air India currently operates 17 weekly non-stop flights to Canada, including 10 services to Toronto and 7 to Vancouver. Additionally, the airline runs 75 weekly services to key European hubs that facilitate onward connections, comprising 49 flights to London Heathrow, 5 to London Gatwick, 14 to Paris Charles de Gaulle, and 7 to Amsterdam Schiphol.
