Jyotiraditya M Scindia Lauds BSNL’s Transformative Performance In FY26

The annual results of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for FY26 were reviewed at the Strategic Review and Planning Meet (SRPM) held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia chaired the meeting and it was attended by Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Telecommunications Secretary Amit Agarwal, BSNL Chairman & Managing Director A. Robert J. Ravi and senior officials.

Scindia described BSNL’s performance as ‘transformative’, noting its transition from a 3G provider to a competitive 4G player, aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

He highlighted the milestone of India joining a select group of five countries with end-to-end indigenous telecom capabilities.

During the review, Scindia assessed key operational metrics including quality of service, subscriber growth, average revenue per user (ARPU) and revenue performance. He noted the improvement in ARPU to ₹101 in FY26 from ₹71 in the previous year, marking a 42% year-on-year increase.

Top-performing circles

The review platform also recognised high-performing telecom circles and business verticals:

The Minister emphasised the need for focused execution, accountability and closer monitoring at the circle level. He urged telecom circles to replicate best practices of top performers to sustain growth momentum and enhance customer experience.

He also stressed continued collaboration with telecom equipment manufacturers to strengthen the domestic ecosystem and reinforce India’s position in indigenous telecom technology.
