Atul Auto Ltd and Exponent Energy have entered into a strategic partnership to jointly develop and deploy rapid-charging electric three-wheelers, targeting a rollout of at least 15,000 passenger vehicles over the next three years.
The collaboration combines Atul Auto’s manufacturing capabilities with Exponent Energy’s rapid-charging technology, marking one of the largest scale-ups of fast-charging electric three-wheelers in the segment.
Technology integration, scale-up
Under the partnership, Atul Auto’s vehicles will be integrated with Exponent Energy’s proprietary OTO three-wheeler mobility platform. Initially proven in retrofit deployments, the platform will now be extended to OEM-integrated new vehicles.
Exponent’s technology enables 15-minute rapid charging—among the fastest globally for commercial EVs—while maintaining consistent performance under high daily usage. The system is backed by a 2 lakh km warranty, addressing concerns around battery life and resale value.
In addition to Exponent’s own rapid-charging network, the platform is interoperable with public and home charging infrastructure, offering operational flexibility to drivers.
Economics, financing support
For customers, the offering is expected to improve earnings through faster turnaround times, higher vehicle uptime and lower operating costs compared to conventional electric three-wheelers.
Exponent Energy has also launched ‘Exponent One’, an EV financing platform led by Sandeep Divakaran, which will support adoption through financing solutions, embedded insurance and structured buyback options.
Management commentary
Exponent Energy, Chief Executive Officer & Founder Arun Vinayak, said the partnership aims to address key barriers to EV adoption by combining rapid charging, financing access and scalable vehicle platforms.
Atul Auto Ltd, Managing Director Neeraj Chandra, said the collaboration strengthens the company’s transition towards electric mobility while enhancing value proposition for customers through advanced charging capabilities.
