Wonderla Chennai Spins Up Skywheel With New Sky-High Dining Experience

CW Bureau ·

Wonderla Holidays Ltd has unveiled its marquee Skywheel attraction at Wonderla Chennai, anchored by the Sky View Diner, positioning the combined experience as a standout leisure offering at its newest park. The ₹37 crore investment marks a significant addition following the park’s launch in December 2025, blending panoramic views with elevated dining in a single integrated format.

A new experiential format for guests

The Skywheel and Sky View Diner together introduce a differentiated way to experience the park, merging a slow-paced aerial ride with a curated dining environment. Located just below the Ferris wheel structure, the air-conditioned diner offers guests a chance to pair sweeping views with a relaxed, elevated meal setting.

Engineering scale and design features

Rising to nearly 80 metres, the Skywheel comprises a 50-metre support structure and a 28-metre observation wheel. Designed as an all-age attraction, it features 16 air-conditioned cabins, each accommodating up to six guests, with a total capacity of 96 riders per cycle.

In-house engineering with global components

Engineered in-house by Wonderla, with cabins imported from Italy, the ride operates at a controlled speed of less than one rotation per minute. The design ensures a smooth, immersive experience while offering expansive aerial views of the park and surrounding areas.

Constructed over 22 months, the Skywheel is positioned as a defining visual and operational asset, supporting steady guest throughput while encouraging longer dwell time within the park.

Sky View Diner adds year-round revenue stream

The Sky View Diner is designed as a casual dining space offering a multi-cuisine buffet priced at ₹699 per guest. With a daily capacity of around 200 guests and year-round availability, the diner can also be accessed as a standalone, pre-bookable experience.

Among the first air-conditioned sky-view dining formats within an amusement park in India, it combines comfort, views and a curated menu, with daytime and sunset dining expected to be key draws.

Precision and guest-focused design

Executive Chairman & MD Arun K. Chittilappilly said the attraction stands out for its engineering precision and guest-focused design. He emphasised that safety remains central across design, manufacturing and operations, adding that the company looks forward to bringing this iconic experience to Chennai visitors.

Chief Operating Officer Dheeran Choudhray said that the Skywheel has long been a recognisable part of Wonderla’s identity. He added that its Chennai debut strengthens both the guest experience and operational efficiency, enabling high throughput while opening up additional revenue streams through integrated offerings like the Sky View Diner.

Strategic significance for Wonderla Chennai

The introduction of the Skywheel and its integrated dining concept reinforces Wonderla Chennai’s positioning as a next-generation amusement destination, combining scale, innovation and monetisation opportunities within a single attraction.
