Mercedes-Benz Drives In CLA BEV At ₹55 Lakh, Bets On Next-Gen E-Cars

CW Bureau ·

Marking a significant milestone in its electrification journey in India, Mercedes-Benz has introduced the CLA BEV, its first next-generation vehicle built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA). The launch signals the brand’s intent to strengthen its foothold in the premium electric mobility space.

Variants and pricing
The CLA BEV is offered in three variants, targeting a wide spectrum of luxury EV buyers. The CLA 200 Standard Range is priced at ₹55 lakh, the CLA 250+ Long Range at ₹59 lakh, and the top-end CLA Launch Edition at ₹64 lakh. The company has already received over 400 confirmed pre-launch bookings, indicating strong early traction among existing luxury car customers.

Technology takes centre stage
Positioned as a born-electric luxury sedan, the CLA BEV is powered by MB.OS, Mercedes-Benz’s proprietary operating system, making it one of the most technologically advanced offerings from the brand in India. The Launch Edition further enhances appeal with exclusive visual elements and feature upgrades.

Targeting a new luxury buyer
The CLA BEV is tailored for a younger, design-driven, and tech-savvy audience. These customers increasingly prioritise intuitive digital experiences, strong brand identity, and expressive design while choosing their first luxury vehicle. The model blends Mercedes-Benz’s signature craftsmanship with a software-defined electric platform, setting new benchmarks in the segment.

To lead in in-car software segment
Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Santosh Iyer said the CLA BEV underlines the company’s ambition to lead in in-car software while delivering a world-class EV with no direct comparable in the market. He added that the strong pre-launch demand reinforces the belief that Indian luxury customers seek high product substance without compromise.

Design built for the future
The CLA BEV represents the next evolution of Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Sensual Purity’ design philosophy. With a sleek fastback silhouette, a 2,790 mm wheelbase, short overhangs, and a distinctive GT rear, the sedan combines aerodynamic efficiency with a sporty, emotional appeal.

Range and charging performance
Built for Indian driving conditions, the CLA BEV features advanced charging capabilities. The CLA 250+ variants, equipped with an 800V architecture, can recover up to 400 km of range in just 20 minutes using a 240 kW DC fast charger. The CLA 200 Standard Range can add up to 320 km within the same duration.

Industry-first battery transparency
In a move aimed at enhancing customer confidence, Mercedes-Benz has introduced a High-Voltage Battery Report with the CLA BEV. This feature provides a transparent and objective assessment of battery health at the time of evaluation, setting a new benchmark for trust and clarity in the EV ecosystem.
