Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd (LTHL) has achieved 100% green building certification across its entire portfolio of 41 owned hotels and reached 50% renewable energy usage (exit rate) as of March 2026, marking a significant milestone in its sustainability journey.
The certifications have been awarded by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry, under various green building parameters.
Design-led sustainability
Since 2012, the company has followed a design-first approach to sustainability. Its owned portfolio now includes two Platinum-rated hotels, 22 Gold, six Silver and 11 Certified-level properties, reflecting a structured transition towards environmentally efficient infrastructure.
The move to 50% renewable energy usage highlights a broader shift in operating models within the hospitality sector, where energy efficiency, sourcing and cost optimisation are becoming integral to long-term resilience.
Strategy and outlook
Lemon Tree Hotels Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Neelendra Singh said, “Our journey towards a fully green-certified owned portfolio and increased reliance on renewable energy reflects a long-term, design-led approach to building future-ready hotels. This achievement demonstrates that large-scale portfolio transformation to green-certified assets is both viable and commercially scalable, redefining how hotel companies can approach growth, development and operations in an increasingly resource-constrained environment.”
Looking ahead, sustainability will remain central to the company’s expansion strategy as it continues to scale operations in domestic and international markets.
With a continued focus on innovation, efficiency and responsible design, the company aims to strengthen its position in sustainable hospitality while delivering long-term value.
