Addressing the gathering, Nara Lokesh described the project as a historic milestone, noting that the ₹1,000 crore investment is expected to generate substantial employment and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s vision of building a full-stack ecosystem spanning energy, data centres, and advanced manufacturing. He credited Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership and emphasised that policy support and execution at speed and scale are positioning the state as a global hub for next-generation manufacturing and digital infrastructure.
Sri City emerging as manufacturing powerhouse
Lokesh highlighted Sri City’s rapid rise as a hub for HVAC and electronics manufacturing, projecting it could contribute nearly 60% of India’s air-conditioner production by 2027, with potential to reach 80% in the future. He added that Carrier’s entry will catalyse supplier ecosystems, attract ancillary industries, accelerate job creation, and strengthen Sri City’s integration into global supply chains. He also noted the region’s inclusive growth, with nearly half of its workforce comprising women.
Carrier leadership signals long-term commitment
David L. Gitlin termed the project a defining chapter in Carrier’s India journey, stating that the $100 million investment reflects the company’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and local empowerment, while reinforcing supply chain resilience. He noted that the project reflects Carrier’s commitment to India’s high-growth potential and will drive sustainable innovation while creating opportunities for local talent.
Facility to boost jobs and exports
Spread across 39 acres, the upcoming plant will manufacture high-end chillers and significantly expand supply chain capabilities. Its proximity to five ports is expected to enhance export potential. Scheduled to be operational by the end of next year, the facility is projected to generate nearly 3,000 direct and indirect jobs. The plant will incorporate green manufacturing practices and cater to rising demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions, further reinforcing Sri City’s role in Carrier’s global ecosystem.
