Leading electric bus manufacturer Olectra Greentech has partnered with Dassault Systemes to adopt the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, a move aimed at accelerating next-generation electric vehicle development through digitally integrated and model-based engineering systems.
The collaboration marks a significant technology upgrade for Olectra as the electric bus manufacturer looks to strengthen its product development capabilities in line with global automotive standards while expanding its presence in India’s fast-growing electric mobility sector.
Digital engineering at the core
Under the partnership, Olectra will integrate Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform into its engineering ecosystem, enabling a unified environment connecting design, simulation, manufacturing and product lifecycle management.
The platform is expected to help Olectra transition towards a fully digital and model-based product development approach, allowing real-time collaboration across engineering teams, manufacturing operations and ecosystem partners.
The adoption will also support virtual simulation and validation processes before physical prototyping, helping the company reduce development cycles, improve precision and accelerate time-to-market for future electric mobility platforms.
Olectra eyes global benchmarks
Olectra Greentech, Managing Director, Mahesh Babu said the company is making significant investments in developing new electric bus and truck platforms as part of its long-term mobility strategy.
He said the collaboration with Dassault Systemes will help Olectra align its engineering and manufacturing capabilities with global benchmarks while improving speed, precision and product innovation.
According to Mahesh Babu, the company sees electrification and digital engineering as the key pillars shaping the future of mobility, particularly as India accelerates its transition toward electric transportation.
Virtual twin technology gains momentum
The partnership reflects the growing shift in the automotive industry towards virtual engineering and integrated product development ecosystems.
Dassault Systemes, Managing Director, India, Deepak NG said the next generation of mobility solutions will increasingly be engineered in virtual environments before moving into physical production.
He added that the collaboration with Olectra represents a broader transformation towards smarter, faster and more sustainable EV development powered by virtual twin technologies and advanced engineering practices.
Push for scalable EV manufacturing
The collaboration comes at a time when global automotive companies are increasingly adopting platform-based engineering systems to reduce complexity, standardise development processes and support next-generation vehicle architectures.
For Olectra, the move is expected to strengthen scalability as the company expands its EV portfolio and production capabilities amid rising demand for electric buses and commercial vehicles in India.
The partnership also highlights how Indian EV manufacturers are increasingly embracing advanced digital technologies to compete with global original equipment manufacturers and improve engineering efficiency.
By embedding the 3DEXPERIENCE platform into its core operations, Olectra aims to create a digitally connected engineering ecosystem capable of supporting future mobility innovations while enhancing product quality and operational agility in the evolving EV market.
