Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and official front-of-jersey sponsor of Chennai Super Kings, is set to bring cricket fever to the streets of Chennai through a series of fan-focused activations between May 16 and 18.
The campaign aims to take the excitement of match weekend beyond the stadium through immersive experiences, giveaways and rewards linked to Etihad Guest, the airline’s loyalty programme.
Golden Rickshaws initiative
One of the key attractions of the campaign is ‘The Golden Rickshaws’, featuring specially branded auto-rickshaws in CSK’s blue and yellow colours combined with Etihad’s signature Gold branding.
Fans can unlock complimentary rides across Chennai by signing up for Etihad Guest through a QR code. On match day, these rickshaws will exclusively ferry fans to and from the stadium, with passengers also receiving merchandise and giveaways.
Street cricket experience
The airline is also launching ‘Wickets of the World’, a street-style cricket activation celebrating destinations across Etihad’s expanding international network.
The initiative will feature destination-themed cricket challenges inspired by cities including New York City, Charlotte, Nice and Prague, allowing fans to participate in interactive games and win prizes.
India remains strategic market
Etihad Guest, Managing Director, Mark Potter, said India continues to remain one of the airline’s most important markets, while cricket offers a strong platform to engage with communities and travellers across the country.
He said the activations were designed to bring fans closer to the excitement of the game while showcasing Etihad’s growing global network and introducing travellers to the benefits of Etihad Guest.
Travel offers for Chennai flyers
Etihad Airways currently operates flights from Chennai and 10 other Indian cities, connecting passengers to Abu Dhabi and onward destinations across the Middle East, Europe, Africa and North America.
As part of the campaign, the airline is promoting its summer destinations including Palma de Mallorca, Kraków, Mykonos, Santorini and Nice.
Travellers from Chennai can also avail up to 10% discount on flights to 22 destinations across Europe and North America using the promo code ‘EYCSK10’ for travel between May 25 and October 31.
Community engagement focus
The campaign will be amplified across Chennai before, during and after the match weekend, with Etihad Airways aiming to celebrate the spirit of cricket and community while creating memorable fan experiences across the city.
