Swiggy has launched ‘Mum’s Choice’, a new initiative aimed at bringing more mothers into its delivery partner network through a flexible work model tailored to their needs.
The company said the initiative is designed to offer greater flexibility for women by removing several traditional constraints associated with gig work.
Flexible work model
Under the programme, delivery partners will not be required to adhere to minimum login hours and will not be assigned long-distance delivery orders. Swiggy said payout structures under the initiative will remain consistent with traditional delivery shifts.
For mothers who do not own a two-wheeler, the company will also provide access to discounted electric vehicle rentals, ensuring mobility does not become a barrier to joining the platform.
Addressing work-life challenges
Swiggy said the initiative directly addresses challenges faced by mothers seeking flexible employment opportunities, particularly the conflict between rigid work schedules and family responsibilities.
The company added that ‘Mum’s Choice’ is aimed at enabling mothers to earn income on their own terms without compromising on responsibilities at home.
Mothers interested in becoming delivery partners
Swiggy SVP and Head – Driver & Delivery Organisation Saurav Goyal said internal surveys conducted by the company indicated that many mothers were interested in becoming delivery partners, but existing systems were not designed to accommodate their schedules.
He said time remains one of the scarcest resources for mothers and the initiative has been designed around the realities of their daily lives rather than requiring them to adapt to fixed work structures.
Saurav Goyal added that the company hopes the initiative will encourage more mothers to participate in the gig economy and support greater financial independence.
Focus on inclusive growth
Swiggy said the launch of ‘Mum’s Choice’ builds on its broader efforts to make the gig economy more inclusive and accessible for women.
The company has undertaken multiple initiatives in this direction, including financial literacy programmes in partnership with the National Stock Exchange of India and sanitation-focused support initiatives aimed at improving working conditions for women delivery partners.
Swiggy said the latest initiative represents another step toward building a more equitable and inclusive delivery ecosystem.
