Strand Life Sciences, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has launched advanced proteomics capabilities powered by Olink Explore HT, marking a major step in expanding large-scale multi-omics research across India and South Asia.
The company said the launch strengthens its ability to support integrated genomics, proteomics and clinical research programmes for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic organisations.
Focus on large-scale protein analysis
Proteomics refers to the large-scale study of proteins — the molecular components responsible for carrying out biological functions in the human body, including metabolism regulation and immune response.
Unlike genomics, which studies genetic instructions, proteomics helps researchers understand how proteins behave in real biological conditions and how their levels change in diseases, offering deeper insights into disease biology and treatment response.
According to Strand Life Sciences, next-generation proteomics platforms now allow simultaneous analysis of thousands of proteins from a small blood sample, enabling faster and more precise identification of disease biomarkers and potential drug targets.
Olink Explore HT measures over 5,400 biomarkers
The newly launched Olink Explore HT platform enables measurement of more than 5,400 protein biomarkers using just 2 microlitres of sample — nearly one-twenty-fifth of a drop of blood.
The company said this capability allows it to deliver integrated proteomics, genomics and clinical insights for advanced research and drug discovery programmes.
As part of the rollout, Strand Life Sciences has already completed a proteomics project for a biopharma partner involving patients with chronic kidney disease, demonstrating the platform’s application in translational research and clinical studies.
Aims to accelerate precision medicine research
Strand Life Sciences Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ramesh Hariharan said the launch brings one of the world’s most advanced proteomics platforms to India and neighbouring regions.
“By combining this with established strengths in genomics, bioinformatics and clinical partnerships, Strand aims to deliver end-to-end multi-omics programmes and enable faster, more impactful discovery,” he said.
Hariharan added that the company is seeking collaborations with global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to accelerate research and development pipelines.
Expanding research capabilities across regions
Strand Life Sciences said it can now support the generation of large multi-modal datasets across clinically relevant populations in India, South Asia and West Asia through its network of clinical partners.
The company plans to support studies across therapeutic areas including oncology, nephrology, metabolic diseases and rare disorders.
With the launch, Strand is offering access to over 5,400 protein biomarkers through Olink Explore HT, integrated genomics and clinical datasets, end-to-end support from study design to data interpretation, and expertise in large cohort-based studies.
The company said growing global demand for integrated multi-omics data positions Strand as a potential partner for large-scale discovery and translational research programmes.
