Mercedes-Benz has launched the limited-series GLE and GLS Night Editions in India, sharpening its focus on exclusivity and personalisation as demand for high-end luxury SUVs continues to grow in the country.
The new Night Editions are based on Mercedes-Benz’s highest-selling luxury SUV range and are part of a global limited-run programme. The company said the models will be offered in restricted volumes across markets, adding to their exclusivity and collector appeal.
The move underlines a broader trend in India’s luxury car market, where affluent buyers are increasingly seeking differentiated products, bespoke styling and limited-edition offerings beyond standard variants.
Luxury buyers seek individuality
Mercedes-Benz India MD & CEO Santosh Iyer said exclusive editions and continuous product innovation remain central to the company’s strategy in India.
“Continuous product innovation for customers through new products, their facelifts, and exclusive editions has been core to Mercedes-Benz’s successful product strategy in India; consistently elevating the brand’s desirability,” he said.
According to Iyer, the GLE and GLS continue to dominate their respective luxury SUV segments, helping position India among Mercedes-Benz’s leading global markets for the two models.
He added that the Night Editions have been designed for customers looking for vehicles that reflect their individuality through bespoke design and curated interiors.
Dark-themed styling takes centre stage
The Night Editions feature a blacked-out exterior treatment combined with exclusive styling elements. Buyers can choose between Obsidian Black and Alpine Grey, with Alpine Grey being exclusive to the Night Edition lineup.
Inside the cabin, both SUVs receive black Nappa leather upholstery and Anthracite open-pore oak wood trim, features not available on standard variants. Mercedes-Benz has also equipped both models with a Head-Up Display as standard.
The GLE Night Edition further differentiates itself with AIRMATIC suspension, adding air-suspension-based ride comfort and handling characteristics.
GLE targets sporty luxury appeal
The GLE has emerged as a strong performer for Mercedes-Benz India in the core luxury SUV category. With the Night Edition, the company is attempting to inject a sportier and more premium character into the SUV through darker visual elements and exclusive finishes.
Mercedes-Benz has priced the GLE 300d Night Edition at ₹1.05 crore and the GLE 450 Night Edition at ₹1.14 crore (ex-showroom, India).
GLS strengthens flagship positioning
The GLS Night Edition extends the same design philosophy to Mercedes-Benz’s flagship luxury SUV. The larger dimensions of the GLS amplify the black-themed styling, while the upgraded interiors enhance its premium positioning.
The GLS 450 Night Edition is priced at ₹1.41 crore, while the GLS 450d Night Edition costs ₹1.43 crore (ex-showroom, India).
