Tata Motors Ltd, one of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, showcased a portfolio of 11 vehicles in Cape Town, South Africa, highlighting its engineering capabilities and focus on next-generation mobility solutions for international markets.
The showcased portfolio covered multiple commercial vehicle segments and powertrain technologies, including electric vehicles, intermediate and light-duty trucks, pickups and passenger mobility solutions tailored for varied applications.
Focus on productivity and lower ownership costs
The company said the showcased range reflects its continued focus on improving productivity, enhancing vehicle uptime and reducing total cost of ownership across customer use cases.
Among the key unveilings was the all-new Ultra Prime RE, a rear-engine intra-city bus designed for urban transport operations, along with the Azura range of next-generation intermediate and light-duty trucks developed for regional and inter-city haulage.
Electric vehicle portfolio highlighted
Tata Motors showcased four electric commercial vehicles as part of its sustainable mobility strategy.
The Tata Ace Pro EV was presented as a zero-emission mini truck for last-mile delivery operations, while the Tata Intra EV targeted urban cargo transportation with higher payload capabilities and lower operating costs.
The company also showcased the Tata Ultra E.9 electric truck for intra-city logistics and the Prima E28.K electric tipper designed for mining and construction applications.
Pickup and cargo solutions displayed
The showcase also included the Intra V30 and Intra V70 pickup range, aimed at improving driver comfort and earning potential.
The Intra V30 offers a payload capacity of 1,300 kg, while the V70 caters to heavier-duty applications with a payload of 1,950 kg and a 10-foot load body.
The Azura 1918 intermediate and light-duty truck was also displayed as a productivity-focused solution for urban and regional transportation requirements.
Passenger mobility solutions presented
Tata Motors also showcased multiple passenger mobility products including the Ultra Prime RE, LPO 1618 Magna, LP 909 Bus and LPO 1623 Nova.
The Ultra Prime RE is a 10.8-metre midi bus powered by a rear-mounted 6.7-litre diesel engine for urban and peri-urban applications.
The LPO 1618 Magna is a 44-seater air-conditioned bus for staff and inter-city transport, while the LP 909 Bus caters to school and staff mobility requirements.
The LPO 1623 Nova was showcased as a premium 49-seater air-conditioned bus for long-distance inter-city operations.
Products tailored to different use cases

Strong Africa presence
Tata Motors currently operates across 29 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa through distribution partners including Tata International, Panafrique Motors, KOMCO Motors and Allied Motors.
The company said it has sold over 3,40,000 commercial vehicles in the region and currently offers more than 60 models backed by over 320 service touchpoints.
Its Africa operations are further supported by seven assembly facilities located in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
