Volvo Trucks India has launched the Volvo FMX Edge, an off-road dump truck developed to enhance productivity in mining operations across India. The new product was unveiled at the company’s facility in Hoskote, Bengaluru, in the presence of mining customers and senior leadership from Volvo Trucks, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd and Volvo Construction Equipment.
Built on the established Volvo FMX platform, the FMX Edge has been developed through customer insights and extensive validation in real mining environments. The truck has been designed to address the changing needs of mining operations, including higher productivity expectations, improved safety, larger excavators, driver availability and predictable lifecycle performance.
Focus on mining productivity
Over the last five years, the Volvo FMX500 8×4 platform has built a strong presence in Indian mining operations, with more than 3,000 trucks currently in operation. The FMX Edge builds on this legacy with a focus on productivity, safety, efficiency and long-term operational value.
The truck comes equipped with a 31.2 cu.m SAE heap body capacity and a 2.8-metre-wide body configuration aimed at improving compatibility with high-capacity excavators, increasing cycle productivity and enabling efficient overburden movement.
Built on the Volvo FMX platform, the truck also incorporates high power and torque, advanced safety systems, improved vehicle stability and fuel-efficiency-oriented features to deliver reliable full-load performance and safer operations.
India key market for Volvo
