Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) has launched the Next Gen Tiago, introducing a refreshed hatchback designed to raise customer expectations in the entry-level mobility segment. Available in Petrol, iCNG and Electric powertrains, the new Tiago is priced from ₹4.69 lakh for the ICE version and ₹6.99 lakh for the electric version under the full ownership model.
With the latest launch, Tata Motors is positioning the Tiago as a blend of aspirational design, practicality and advanced technology, while catering to distinct customer preferences through separate ICE and EV experiences built on a shared design philosophy.
Tata Motors bets big on hatchback segment
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra said hatchbacks continue to remain the gateway to personal mobility for millions of Indian families, despite receiving limited innovation focus from the industry over the years.
“Hatchbacks remain the gateway to personal mobility for millions of Indian families and yet, for far too long, this segment received scarce attention from the industry, when it genuinely deserved far more. The Next Gen Tiago fulfils this need by offering substantially more,” he said.
Distinct styling for ICE and EV variants
The company said the ICE and electric variants have been designed around a futuristic design language, while also reflecting different customer mindsets through differentiated styling cues and colour palettes.
The Petrol and iCNG versions of the Next Gen Tiago feature sharper design elements, bolder surfaces and a more confident road presence aimed at enhancing the familiarity customers associate with the Tiago brand.
Meanwhile, the Tiago.ev adopts a more digitally progressive design approach, underlining Tata Motors’ focus on the future of urban mobility.
Tiago.ev gets faster charging and connected features
Tata Motors said the Next Gen Tiago.ev has been upgraded with enhanced connected technologies, intuitive digital interfaces and additional safety systems tailored for city driving conditions.
The electric hatchback also supports enhanced fast charging capability that can add 100 kilometres of range in just 18 minutes.
The company highlighted that the Tiago.ev continues to strengthen its position as India’s highest-selling electric hatchback by offering a more accessible and technology-focused ownership experience.
Focus on lower ownership costs
According to Tata Motors, the Tiago.ev also aims to redefine the economics of EV ownership. The company claimed that lower running costs can help customers recover ownership costs within a few years of regular city usage, with additional savings possible through solar-powered home charging solutions.
“The Next Gen Tiago.ev takes this further by fundamentally changing the financial logic of EV ownership. With an industry-first Lifetime Battery HV Warranty, enhanced fast charging that adds 100 kilometres in just 18 minutes and running cost savings that recovers the vehicle’s value within four to five years, the Tiago.ev is the first EV in India that is not just emotionally engaging but also financially smart,” Chandra said.
He added that in the sub-₹12 lakh category, where EV penetration remains below 2%, the Tiago.ev’s ownership proposition could help accelerate electric vehicle adoption in the country.
