Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) continued its growth momentum in May 2026, reporting domestic sales of 47,837 units, up 9.1% year-on-year, as the automaker carried forward its strong start to FY27.
The company’s exports stood at 13,300 units during the month, taking total sales to 61,137 units, a 4.1% increase compared with May 2025.
Domestic demand drives growth
Hyundai’s domestic performance remained the key growth driver during the month. The company said it sold 47,837 units in India in May 2026, reflecting sustained consumer demand across its product portfolio.
The latest numbers helped the automaker maintain a positive trajectory in the opening months of the current financial year.
FY27 begins on a strong note
According to HMIL, domestic sales during the first two months of FY27 (April-May) rose 13% to 99,739 units, compared with 88,235 units in the corresponding period of FY26.
Commenting on the performance, Hyundai Motor India MD & CEO Tarun Garg said the company had continued its strong momentum into May, delivering growth in both domestic and overall sales.
The near one lakh domestic sales milestone in the first two months of the fiscal highlights Hyundai’s sustained market presence in India’s highly competitive passenger vehicle segment.
Celebrates 30 years in India
The month also marked a significant milestone for Hyundai Motor India as the company celebrated its 30th Foundation Day on May 6.
Established in 1996, Hyundai has evolved into one of India’s largest and most trusted automotive brands, playing a key role in shaping the country’s passenger vehicle market over the last three decades.
